About Me

Hello, writer!

My name is Naomi Gnecco, and I’m a copyeditor/proofreader, writer, and self-published author.

I’ve been reading since I was two and writing since I was seven, and I’ve spent much of my life getting lost in the magic of books and words. I’m what you’d call a “word nerd”: I’m obsessed with the English language, and I have a gift for catching mistakes in writing that most people miss. Now I want to use that gift to help other writers chase their dreams!

Whether you’re an author, a blogger, or an entrepreneur, I want to help make your writing as clean as it can possibly be. As a copyeditor/proofreader on your project, I will correct any distracting typos or embarrassing mistakes that you may have missed. After all, readers should be focusing on your message, not your misspelled words or bad punctuation!

Credentials, Resources, and Experience

Proofreading Course

I completed Caitlin Pyle’s General Proofreading: Theory and Practice™ course (under my maiden name), which taught me how to proofread based on The Chicago Manual of Style, and I passed my final exam with a score of 97%.

In the course, I practiced my proofreading skills on various types of writing, including essays, articles/blog posts, and even fiction (which was my favorite).

Resources

I proofread according to The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition (CMOS) and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition. I’m also familiar with punctuation rules across multiple styles (thanks to The Best Punctuation Book, Period), and I’m happy to accommodate any style preferences you may have that would contradict established rules in the default style guide.

I’m always learning, and soon I hope to offer proofreading in APA and AP style as well.

Self-Publishing Experience

I’m also a self-published fantasy author, with two books currently available on Amazon (published under my maiden name, Naomi Lastrucci). My experience with self-publishing has taught me what it’s like to work with editors and proofreaders on a book, and I want to help make the process as easy as possible for other indie authors.

Should you choose to hire me, you can rest assured that your manuscript will be in good hands through the last stage of editing before you publish!
